Global Risk Monitoring at a Tier-1 Bank
Tier-1 global bank — Basel III risk monitoring platform, 24×7 production
The Challenge
The bank operates a global regulatory file-flow and KPI calculation platform feeding both internal risk teams and regulator-facing reports. Development had to coordinate across four geographies: business owners in New York, architecture in Northern Ireland, development in Shanghai, QA in India. Every requirement clarification, code review, and deployment was async + scheduled English call. Compliance windows meant zero production downtime tolerance.
The Solution
Acted as Solutions / Delivery Lead in the Shanghai team, owning requirement analysis between NY business and our delivery org. Wrote production code (Java + WebLogic + Flex), coordinated 7×24 production handoff between Shanghai (day) and NY (night) shifts, and shepherded 50+ JIRA tickets + 30+ design docs through compliance review.
How We Built It
- 1Requirement analysis between NY business team and Shanghai delivery — 50+ tickets, 30+ design docs
- 2Production code in Java + WebLogic / WebSphere + Flex front-end + Oracle backend
- 37×24 production monitoring handoff between Shanghai (day) and NY (night)
- 4Cross-team code reviews via Confluence + JIRA, all in English
- 5Internal compliance review equivalent to central-bank acceptance
- 6Zero-downtime release pattern for Basel reporting cycles
